Holy Fool Launch Post

Hey, this is Ben Sooy from Holy Fool.

For many of us, music is essential to life. On a good day, we throw on our favorite record and dance around the kitchen. On a bad day, we throw on the saddest songs we can find and have a good cry.

But we live in an age where life is harder and harder for working musicians. Streaming companies pay less and less, touring becomes more and more of a financial gamble.

I’m a working musician and most of my best friends are working musicians, folks in rock bands and singer songwriters. Folks that make the most beautiful and life-changing songs you’ve ever heard. But who struggle to make rent or carve out a sustainable lifestyle of creation.

So we started a nonprofit to support working musicians, it’s called Holy Fool. We provide encouragement, peer coaching, and strategizing help to Colorado musicians who are not yet financially independent. We lend resources, equipment, and give micro grants to musicians in need.

We need your help! We’ve got a growing community of donors and patrons who are giving monthly to help support our community of working musicians. You can make a donation on our giving page.

If you’re within driving distance of Denver, you should come to our Denver Launch Party! It’s Sunday, June 8 at 4:30 pm. Our friends at A Small Print Shop are hosting us. You can check out all the details on our events page.

I’m stoked to see what we can build together!

- Ben
